Television without Pity

"It's not TV; it's HBOhhhhhh my God, he just zoinked that guy's eyeball! The soap opera for people who loved gore, hot man-on-man action, and plotting that tolstoy would have rejected as too convoluted, Oz taught us that prison looked a lot like daytime tv -- but with many more asses. And God bless them, every one (with the exception of Terry "Shut Up, McManus" Kinney's which we saw too much of). So, McManus's existence made no sense to us; nor did the fact that warden Leo Glynn (Ernie Hudson) didn't get fired for running the biggest death trap in the prison system, and we needed an Excel file and an algorithm generator to keep up with all the nutty feuds, suballiances, Ryan O'Reilly double crosses, rapes, drug problems, and theories about how Adebisi (Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje) affixed that itty-bitty little hat to his bald head at such a disingenuously jaunty angle."
